Introduction: In recent years, the emergence of new technologies has experienced remarkable growth. One of them is blockchain technology and its application in different area. Key factors contributing to its widespread adoption and expansion across various domains include cryptographic capabilities, decentralization, immutability, and transparency in data transfer. Given these characteristics, blockchain technology has found extensive applications in the healthcare sector, particularly in ensuring the security of medical data. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to evaluate and rank the factors influencing the adoption of blockchain technology within the electronic health system of the Social Security Organization.
Materials and Methods: In terms of purpose, the research is applied. Moreover, it follows a descriptive-survey design with a correlational analysis approach based on its methodology. The statistical population consists of healthcare department staff of the Social Security Organization in Tehran Province. A sample of 377 participants were selected among the
organization staff using Morgan’s table through simple random sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire administered via fieldwork. Interviews were conducted with 10 experts in this field to ensure the content validity index (CVI) and content validity ratio (CVR) of questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was employed to assess the internal
consistency (reliability) of the questionnaire constructs. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, version 23.
Results: The research findings indicate that the technological, legal, financial, environmental, and organizational factors are among the most significant determinants influencing the adoption of blockchain technology in the electronic health system of the Social Security Organization.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this research regarding the factors associated with blockchain adoption and their relative importance, hospitals can assess their strengths and weaknesses. In addition, we can take actions to establish the necessary infrastructure and we can overcome barriers to implemente this technology in electronic health record systems through appropriate planning and resource allocation. The research results demonstrated that—ranked in order of significance—the technological, legal, financial, environmental, and organizational factors have a positive and significant influence on the adoption of blockchain technology in the electronic health system of the Social Security Organization.
