Introduction: Ultrasound, as one of the advanced technologies in the field of acoustics, has found widespread applications in military fields in recent decades.
Materials and Methods: This analytical approach article examines the direct and indirect applications of these waves in the defense field. In the first part, the use of ultrasound waves in subsurface detection, secure communications, and non-lethal weapons is examined. Then, the role of ultrasound in military medicine, combat training, and environmental security is analyzed as indirect applications. After that, technical challenges such as limited penetration into dense materials, interference with electronic equipment, and dependence on human analysis are raised along with ethical and legal considerations including privacy concerns and the use of waves as a means of population control. In the future research section, innovative paths have been proposed such as integration with artificial intelligence, development of wearable sensors, and application in drones and rescue robots.
Results: Using authentic scientific sources published between 2020 and 2025, this article provides a comprehensive picture of the capabilities, limitations, and prospects of ultrasound waves in the military field and it can serve as a basis for future research and strategic decisionmaking in the defense industries.
Conclusion: Ultrasound is recognized as a vital tool in military science. With future advancements, the applications of this technology are expected to expand even further and they contribute to improve defense capabilities of countries.
