Productivity and factors affecting it are managers concern in manufacturing and service sectors. Worker status is a great challenge to improve the productivity and efficiency of hospitals. In this study, the proficiency of surgical technologist has been assessed in the Hospital of Iran University of Medical Sciences. Methods and Materials: This cross-sectional study performed on 127 surgical technologist staff in educational hospitals of Iran University of medical sciences. Data were collected through demographic questionnaire and Hersey Goldsmit questionnaire. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution tables, graph, and calculating numerical analysis by SPSS software. Results: Based on the results, labor proficiency was investigated in 7 dimensions. The mean of ability dimension was 9.64, understanding and structure dimension was 8.04, organizational support dimension was 8.9, incentive dimension was 9.2, feedback dimension was 12.36, validity dimension was 10.55, and compatibility dimension was 8.55. Moreover, the total mean for productivity was 69.71 (SD=15.72). Discussion and Conclusion: The results reveal that the level of staff proficiency is low (69.71 from 130). Regarding lack of attention to the organizational productivity, it seems to need more attention in this area.
